Wells Assam Reserve Black Loose Leaf Tea – 4 oz Tin

Lindsey’s Pick

Golden-tipped Assam black tea with a rich body, smooth maltiness and a deeply satisfying finish.

Named after the enchanting city of Wells in Somerset, England, Wells Assam Reserve is a tribute to timeless tradition and quiet moments of comfort. Home to the magnificent Wells Cathedral, the historic Bishop’s Palace and centuries-old streets filled with character, Wells embodies the beauty of slowing down and savoring life’s simple pleasures.

That same spirit is captured in this exceptional black tea from the historic Harmutty Tea Estate, one of Assam’s oldest tea gardens, dating back to the 1870s. Located in India’s renowned Northeast Assam region, the estate lies in the North Lakhimpur district alongside the Dikrong River and near the lush forests of Arunachal Pradesh. The name Lakhimpur is believed to have been derived from Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of prosperity—a fitting heritage for a tea of such remarkable character.

Beautifully crafted, golden-tipped leaves produce a rich amber infusion with the signature qualities Assam lovers seek. Expect a full-bodied, smooth and malty cup with classic Assam boldness and a naturally satisfying finish that lingers after every sip. It is equally enjoyable on its own or softened with a splash of milk.

If you ask Lindsey to choose just one tea, this is it. Wells Assam Reserve is her absolute favorite—and after the very first sip, it is easy to understand why. A timeless breakfast tea and comforting everyday brew, this is one you may find yourself reaching for again and again.

The Potter’s Wheel Black Loose Leaf Tea – 4 oz Tin

Classic Indian and Ceylon black teas offering brightness, balance and satisfying character.

The Potter’s Wheel celebrates the proud heritage of Stoke-on-Trent, where the ceramic industry shaped the landscape and the lives of generations of local families. In the days when bottle ovens dominated the skyline, thousands of men and women worked in the potbanks, learning skills passed from one generation to the next.

Tea was an essential part of the working day. At break time, the tea lady would push her trolley through the workshops, serving strong, steaming mugs to potters, painters, mold makers and kiln workers. These were robust, satisfying brews chosen for their bright flavor and brisk character—just the thing to revive tired workers before they returned to their craft.

This blend holds a particularly special place in my heart. Having worked in the pottery industry in Stoke-on-Trent—affectionately known as The Potteries—for many years, its story feels especially personal to me. It brings back memories of the people, craftsmanship and proud working traditions that made the city famous around the world.

Inspired by that heritage, black teas from India and Sri Lanka come together to create a bright amber cup with an inviting aroma, medium body and clean, refreshing finish. Balanced, dependable and full of character, The Potter’s Wheel is a fitting tribute to the hardworking spirit of The Potteries and the generations of craftspeople whose skill shaped its remarkable story.

Stratford Hearthside Black,Lapsang Souchong & Oolong Loose Leaf Tea – 4 oz Tin

Stratford Hearthside takes its inspiration from the timber-framed streets and centuries-old hearths of Stratford-upon-Avon, a market town whose story stretches back long before its most famous son, William Shakespeare. Granted its market charter in the 12th century, Stratford grew into a bustling town of merchants, craftspeople, inns and taverns, with open hearths burning at the heart of Tudor homes and gathering places. It is easy to imagine the Stratford of Shakespeare’s day—the scent of woodsmoke drifting from crooked chimneys, ale and conversation filling the inns, and travelers seeking warmth beside the fire after a cold journey through Warwickshire. Rich, malty black and oolong teas are layered with smoky Lapsang Souchong to create a deep amber infusion with an earthy fireside aroma, mellow sweetness and lingering smoke. Bold and full-bodied without losing its smoothness, it has an almost whisky-like warmth and depth that feels especially comforting on cold evenings. A tea for firesides, old stories and unhurried nights, Stratford Hearthside is our little taste of Tudor Stratford in a cup.

Natural CO₂ Decaffeination

Our Arundel Decaf Ceylon undergoes a natural carbon dioxide (CO₂) decaffeination process designed to remove caffeine while preserving much of the tea's original flavor, aroma, and character.

During this process, moistened tea leaves are placed in a pressurized chamber where carbon dioxide acts as a solvent to extract the caffeine. Once the process is complete, the pressure is released, allowing the CO₂ to return to its gaseous state and dissipate.

Unlike traditional decaffeination methods that use chemical solvents such as methylene chloride, this process uses carbon dioxide to gently remove caffeine while maintaining the qualities of the original tea.

Decaffeinated tea is not entirely caffeine-free. A small amount of caffeine remains, generally around 1–2% of the original caffeine content.
