Chai & Spiced Tea

Downham Ramblers Vanilla Chai Black Loose Leaf Tea – 4 oz Tin

Downham Ramblers Vanilla Chai begins with our Manchester Spice Market Chai, a blend inspired by a city whose markets, merchants and diverse communities brought the aromas and flavors of the wider world into the heart of northern England. Robust black tea meets warming cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and anise, echoing the fragrant spices that have long filled Manchester’s bustling market stalls and food shops. From there, we journey north into the Lancashire countryside to the beautiful stone village of Downham beneath Pendle Hill. A generous touch of creamy French vanilla softens the traditional chai spices, creating a rich, mellow cup that feels made for returning from a countryside walk. It is a blend of two worlds—the lively, spice-filled character of Manchester and the peaceful lanes, green fields and timeless charm of rural Downham.

Natural CO₂ Decaffeination

The moistened tea leaves are placed inside a pressurized chamber with carbon dioxide. Under pressure, the CO₂ becomes a liquid and gently draws caffeine from the leaves while preserving much of the tea’s original flavor and character. The liquid is then removed, and the remaining CO₂ returns to its gaseous form and dissipates as the leaves dry.

Decaffeinated tea is not completely caffeine-free and may retain approximately 1–2% of its original caffeine.
