The aroma is exactly what you want in a black breakfast tea. The nose is amber and lightly malted and feels cozy.
The taste is not quite as bold as advertised and I found it pleasantly light. Unaltered it has an earthy almost cocoa and whole grain taste and feel. Light, not rich, and a nutty finish. After adding a tiny bit of honey and a splash of cream I taste subtle sweeter notes of powdered sugar, fig, dates, and plum. Would pair well with a cheese danish or multigrain toast for breakfast.
I’d caution against leaving this to steep longer than the recommended 3 minutes as this could become overly dry quickly.
2nd steep is just delicious on its second steep! I only added a bit of honey this go around, no cream. The fig and plum are still present with the sweetness coming from the honey alone is enough. There are more soft floral notes and an almond or cashew-butter like finish that is complimented by the honey perfectly. Delicious!
I used an additional half scoop on the next brew and was pleased with the result! I again omitted the cream and kept to just honey with a heavy helping of tea leaves and it was perfect for my palate!

London Breakfast brings together three distinct black teas to create a lovely balance of strength and brightness. My first impression was that it manages to be both bold and light at the same time. It has a satisfying black tea character without feeling overly heavy.

There's a subtle freshness that comes through as I sip, possibly those delicate fruity notes mentioned in the blend description. They add a lovely dimension without overpowering the tea. The finish is smooth, making this an easy and enjoyable cup from beginning to end.

I enjoyed this tea plain, without milk or sweetener. It's a beautifully balanced breakfast blend that offers plenty of character while remaining light and approachable.

There’s just something about a good breakfast tea that never goes out of style! It is a traditional black tea blend inspired by London’s historic tea rooms, grand hotels, and bustling cafés and I can see the nod to a classic English experience.

This blend brings together black teas from India, Sri Lanka, and Kenya, creating a beautiful balance of flavors. The blend holds true to the promise of a bold yet elegant cup, with delicate maltiness and subtle fruity notes, all coming together in a lovely golden-amber infusion.

I love that this is a straightforward black tea blend without added flavorings or extras. Just good, classic black tea!

It’s the kind of tea I can easily picture enjoying first thing in the morning alongside breakfast, but honestly, a dependable black tea doesn’t need a special occasion. Sometimes you just want a really good cup to start your day.

I also appreciate that London Breakfast is described as being full-bodied enough to enjoy with milk, while still smooth enough to drink on its own. Since I typically enjoy my black teas without milk or sugar, I’m happy to report the blend lets the natural flavors speak for themselves.

This black tea is seriously so good! It’s bold but incredibly smooth and well-balanced with no astringency. I really loved the subtle malty flavor. As it cooled down, I noticed more of a fruity note in the background. It holds up well to milk but honestly, it’s so delicious plain. It really didn't need any extra additions. This is the perfect breakfast tea to start your day!

I used 2 tsp of tea, steeped at 212° for 3 minutes

This tea was gifted to me by purveyor, but all opinions are my own.

This is another great tea from Apothecary and Leaf. Bold yet smooth.
I steeped 1 heaping teaspoon in 8 oz at 212 F for 3 minutes. The liquor is a golden brown. The taste has a familiar breakfast tea flavor but it is a bit bolder (just a bit - not strong or overbearing) and way smoother at the finish.
I honestly can't say enough about these teas from Apothecary and Leaf. So far the ones I have tried will not only be on my re order list but are heading to the top of my favorites.
Great job Apothecary & Leaf!

I love a good breakfast tea. I was raised on English Breakfast — it was the first tea I ever tried, and it was my first glimpse into the world of tea, so naturally I was so excited to try this London Breakfast variety.

At the first sip, my face lit up with a smile. This tea has the familiar comfort, warmth, and depth of an English Breakfast that I know and love. It’s a bold tea, the perfect way to begin a day. It’s elegant and sophisticated, no doubt a quality blend of the finest black teas. The tea deep and smooth with notes of stone fruit, specifically apricot and dates. A small spoonful of sugar and a splash of milk makes this a perfect morning sip. I truly love everything about this tea. It’s one I wish I could share with my Grandma, the person who gave me my first ever cup of tea. I know she’d love this one, too.

I love a pure black tea in the morning as my breakfast tea (I stopped drinking coffee about a year ago) and this was a lovely addition to my breakfast tea lineup. It was malty, bold, smooth, and delicious on its own. I didn’t find this needed milk or sugar, but I’m sure both of those things would also make this tasty. There is also an extremely delightful honeyed stone-fruit note to this tea! I highly recommend this one!

This tea was gifted to me by the company, and I am providing my honest review.

Brisk Ceylon, malty Assam, and bold Kenyan come together for a complex and decadent cup of tea.

Breakfast teas are what I keep on hand the most because they are my favorites and I drink them any time of day.  When I'm ready for a cup of tea during my busy work day, it's an easy and foolproof choice.  I've had Irish, Scottish, Singapore, English, and multiple other varieties and I must say: this London breakfast will be one that stays at the top of the favorites list.  Whatever formula was used to blend this tea....someone knew what they were doing!

If I were to taste this tea blind, I might be convinced that it's a dessert tea.  I'm getting notes of cocoa, vanilla, dried fruits, caramel, honey, and when milk and sugar are added, a sweet pastry-like flavor that makes it almost sinful.

If you're shopping this brand and can't decide on a tea: pick this one.  It's just a well rounded black tea that is sure to satisfy every flavor note you're looking for; it checks ALL of the boxes!

The dark reddish brown that this tea brews up to is beautiful. This tea smells strong with a bit of sweetness to it. I did add cream and sweetener, but you really wouldn't need to add anything to enjoy this tea. It is definitely well balanced. The flavor is a bit malty and yet has a fruity sweetness. This breakfast tea steeps up to a brisk, full bodied cup.

Another high quality tea from Apothecary & Leaf. This one is smooth with a very mild brisk astringency, though in the good way that feels gently hydrating and mineral, not in the tannic bite kind of way.

I steeped this at a full boil for 3 minutes and the liquor turned a beautiful deep honey color, which becomes increasingly amber the longer the steep. I get notes of sweet apples and pecans. This tea feels accessible to new black tea drinkers and also that it has some refreshing fruity notes that are a bit more thirst quenching. This is just a wonderfully balanced cuppa. A true staple.

To my palate, this is the quintessential British breakfast tea, offering the rich, full-bodied character I appreciate in a traditional morning brew while introducing an elegant complexity that makes it particularly memorable.

The tea produces a beautiful golden-amber infusion with an inviting aroma, delicate maltiness, and subtle fruity nuances. From the first sip, its generous body delivers the satisfying strength expected of a proper breakfast tea, yet it remains remarkably smooth and balanced, without excessive bitterness or harsh astringency.

What particularly distinguishes this blend is its lovely interplay of oak and delicate fruity top notes. The subtle woody character introduces an appealing depth that complements the underlying maltiness, while gentle fruit notes provide a touch of brightness and refinement. Together, these qualities create a beautifully layered infusion that feels both familiar and distinctive.

As someone who particularly enjoys strong black teas with a splash of milk, I find this blend especially rewarding. A little milk introduces a comforting creaminess while preserving its rich flavor and distinctive character. Enjoyed without milk, the individual notes of oak, fruit, and malt become more pronounced.

Rich, elegant, and wonderfully satisfying, this is an exceptional expression of a traditional British breakfast tea. Its generous body, beautiful smoothness, and refined complexity elevate it beyond an ordinary breakfast blend, delivering everything I appreciate in a proper British brew. A truly delightful addition to my morning tea ritual.

A classic breakfast tea. This three tea combination has a nice bold character and a bit of brisk while still being smooth. It has dry finish with subtle notes of honey. It goes perfectly with cream.

I received this tea in exchange for my honest review.

London Breakfast is a wonderfully smooth, malty black tea with a lovely full-bodied character. With each sip, the rich maltiness is complemented by a subtle hint of raisin or date in the finish, adding just a touch of natural sweetness that rounds out the flavor beautifully.
The brewed tea has a gorgeous amber hue that catches the light, making it just as lovely to look at as it is to drink. Its smooth mouthfeel and lower tannin presence make for an easy, enjoyable cup without the bitterness or astringency that some black teas can have.
This tea has enough body to stand up beautifully to a splash of milk, but it is equally enjoyable on its own, allowing those malty notes and delicate fruity undertones to shine through.
Overall, London Breakfast is a wonderfully versatile and satisfying cuppa. Whether you're easing into a quiet morning, enjoying an afternoon tea break, or pairing it with a favorite pastry, this is a classic black tea that feels right for just about any occasion.
