A beautifully atmospheric organic cotton tea towel inspired by a winter journey through Normandy on the way to spend Christmas in Spain. The design captures a cheerful robin nestled amongst mistletoe, set against the strong silhouettes of winter trees for a scene that feels festive without being overly traditional.

The idea began as a very rough sketch on lined notepaper while travelling south through Normandy. Tucked away in a sketchbook, that little drawing stayed in the artist’s mind and gradually developed into the finished illustration. The striking tree shapes and glowing clusters of mistletoe seemed to call for the addition of a robin, bringing warmth and character to the winter landscape.

The Story Behind the Design

Although inspiration often comes from walks and wildlife closer to the artist’s Devon home, this design began on the road. With miles of winter countryside passing by the window, the image slowly took shape — bare branches, rounded mistletoe forms and a bright little robin completing the scene.

The finished tea towel brings together travel, memory and nature in a design that works beautifully throughout the winter season and especially at Christmas.
